The Transdisciplinary Skills in PYP PE
The purpose of this page is to have a look at the PYP Transdisciplinary Skills and see how they might be applied in your PE classes. I believe that there are loads of ways to focus on these skills and to also be able to assess these skills. The Transdisciplinary Skills really are the nuts and bolts of what the PYP is and fostering these skills, in my opinion, is paramount in ensuring a quality PE program is in place. Consistently applying these skills will enhance and imprint the enduring concepts that we want our students to walk away from our programs with. There are 38 skills in total, broken down into 5 categories.
I had originally set up a podcast and keynote presentation to go into a bit of a deeper discussion and give specific examples of how I apply and assess these skills on an ongoing basis in my classes, but it didn't work out. Please view slide show below to look at each transdisciplinary skill and how these skills are broken down. I have also included specific questions to address each skill to have you think about how these skills could apply in any unit that you teach in PE. Do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions. Thanks. Hope that you find this useful.
